Obituary of Ruel Maxwell Teaney, Jr.
Ruel Teaney, 84, of Ghent, died December 20 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born April 11, 1925 in Fort Pierre, S.D., he was the son of the late Ruel and Elsie Mueller Teaney. He moved to Ghent in 1926 when his family purchased a farm there. The family’s wishes were for windows and plenty of water, which Ghent provided compared to the Plains.
A lifetime member of the Mellenville Volunteer Fire Company, he was a 50-year member of the Mellenville Grange, a member of the Columbia County Cooperative Extension and Soil and Water Conservation and a member of the Philmont United Methodist Church. He loved farming and building and enjoyed bowling, fishing, sailing and bargain hunting, when time allowed.
His wife of 55 years, Mary L. Stark Teaney, died previously.
Burial at the Mellenville Cemetery.
