Obituary of Margaret Lucille Decker
Margaret Lucille (Blackmer) Decker, 91, of Union City, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa. Margaret was born July 7, 1923, in Sinclairville, New York, a daughter of the late Lloyd A. and Ethel (Roden) Blackmer.
She worked for Bell Aircraft during World War II, as a foreman and as a machinist, and later worked for a powder plant, making bombs for aircraft, where she was also a foreman, and at Marx Toy Company of Erie, and then retiring from Industrial Sales of Erie, Pa.
She loved to read her bible, always putting helping others first before doing anything for herself. She also loved to garden, paint, draw, tatting and watching NASA.
She was married to Louis Decker in November of 1953 in Corry, Pa., and he preceded her in death in November of 1978.
Survivors include Diane Roys of Lexington Park, Maryland, Karen Greer and her husband Jack of New Port Richey, Florida and Kathie Albrecht and her husband Frank of Union City, Pa., a son Terry Decker and his wife Vivian of Palm Bay, Florida, sisters Helen Mead of Crestview, Florida and Myrtle Boyd of Punta Gorda, Florida, grandchildren John, Patrick, Julie, Christopher, Jeffery,Toni, Rachel, Frankie, William, Kelly, Louie and Lloyd, and 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home, Inc., 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa., from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be private, at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery, Erie County.
