Obituary of Kenneth Leroy butterfield
Kenneth L. Butterfield, 85, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Kenneth was born May 6, 1924, in Pawnee City, Neb., the son of Kenneth and Esther (Brown) Butterfield.
He treasured 63 years of marriage with Dorothy (Reed) Butterfield.
As a U.S. Marine, Kenneth flew fighter planes during WWII. He loved to fly. At the age of 80, he decided it was time to fly again and took the stick one last time.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid computer user who met the challenges of technology with the same determination and perseverance he used in life.
Kenneth was a life member of VFW Post #5289 and the Marine Corps League Union Colony Detachment. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Barry and his wife, Pat, Omaha, NE., and Mark and his wife, Nancy, Campbell, CA.; daughters, Debra Butterfield, St. Joseph, MO., and Dorothy Charest, Overland Park, KS.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial service 1 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
