Obituary of Daniel McCarty
On December 28th Daniel McCarty left this earth embarking on a new journey where he will definitely awe and impress everyone he meets as he has done in this lifetime. Suitably, Dan came into this world in Hollywood on January 22nd born to Clyde and Roberta McCarty. He graduated from Enterprise High School in Redding, California and served his country in the Army Chemical Corps in Vietnam.
During hunting season of 1968 he married Sylvia McCullough.
Later divorced he married his current wife Janet. Daniel's chosen career was with the U.S. Postal service, advancing to the position of Postmaster. He served in this capacity for 11 years in Vernal, Utah before his retirement in 2003. In 2004 he and Janet moved to Cave Junction.
Daniel never did anything in mediocrity and was greatly appreciated by the many organizations he joined over the years. In the last four years he was very active in the Rogue Gem and Geology Club in Grants Pass and the Kirby Masonic Lodge where he had just been installed as Master on December 6th. His passing is a loss to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Cave Junction, daughter Michelle McCarty of Sacramento, Son Paul (Jennifer)McCarty of Thousand Oaks, Ca., Stepchildren Tod Hilstad (Lisa) of Hood River, Or. and Tammy McKee (Cort) of Vernal Utah. Beloved grandchildren include Rebekah, Torianna, William, Danielle, Sean, Derrick, Amanda, Trisha and Sarah and two great grandchildren, Kadence and Rylee. Dan is also survived by sisters Penelope (Gerry) Torribio. Pamela (Dave) Fleuret and brothers Rocky and Mike McCarty.
An open house wake is being held to celebrate his life on Friday, January 2nd from 4:00 pm to 8 pm at his residence: 800 Hummingbird Road, Cave Junction.
