Robert W. Fenno 1925-2007
SPRINGFIELD - Robert W. Fenno, 81, formerly of Westboro, MA, passed away March 7, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center after a short illness. He was born July 9, 1925 to the late Arthur L. and Ethel (Ring) Fenno. He was an enthusiastic Red Sox and Patriots fan and an avid golfer. He enjoyed traveling and playing pool and ping pong with his son. He graduated from Westboro High School, Class of 1943. He proudly served his country for two years and four months in the Army Co. C 157th Infantry Regiment 45th Division in the European Theatre of Operations. He was in a plotting room of a coast artillery battery plotting Azimuth and range from one point to another of targets. He was in battle in Rhineland Central Europe. He was predeceased by his brother, S/Sgt Warren A. Fenno, who died while a member of the Army Corps in the war period beginning December 7, 1941. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mireye (Roche) Fenno; his son, Wayne D. and his wife, Qing, of Chelmsford; his grandson, Brian Matthew; his brother, Chester L. and his wife Norma, of Framingham; his two sisters: Shirley Kayser, of Prescott, AZ and Marjorie Zarella and her husband, Al, of Bonsall, CA; several nieces and nephews; a grand-niece and five grand-nephews. He was a former commander of the Westboro Memorial Post VFW 9013. He was a wonderful father, a loving husband and a caring friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 1:15 p.m. at Nowak Funeral and Cremation Services, 15 Ludlow Ave., Springfield followed by interment with full military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
