SAMUEL HARTWELL. In 1857 he bought the Noah Brooks tavern stand on the Bay road in Lincoln (noted as Col. Prescott's resting place on the night of Apr. 18, 1775), and by his energy and skill as a farmer, placed it high on the list of Mass. model farms. He was an active, efficient member of the Middlesex Agricultural and New England Horticultural Societies, a successful exhibitor of fine fruits and vegetables at Horticultural Hall in Boston, finding time for efficient attention to the abundant duties of selectman, assessor and treasurer of Lincoln, as well as a helping hand to church and education interests; a live, pushing man.
