LYMAN NEWELL ALLIS was born August 31, 1853 in Rome, N.Y., and lived on his father's farm until he was able to purchase one for himself. About the time of his marriage he bought a forty-acre farm in Fayette, Hillsboro County, Mich., where he has since lived. He is an up-to-date, progressive farmer, raising grain principally, and under his capable management his original farm has been more than doubled in size. On March 14, 1883, he married Loretta B. Davison.
