JOSEPH CHARLES HARTWELL. He was graduated from Worcester Academy in 1893, and from Brown Univ. in 1899. After graduation he worked as an engineer for the General Fire Extinguisher Co. in Providence, R.I., and continued with this company in all its phases for over 50 years. Later, the company became the Grinnell Corp. In 1834 he organized the Hartwell Co., of which he was president and general manager, as an engineering division of the Grinnell Corp.
He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity; Central Baptist Church; Turks Head Coub; University Club; British Empire Club; Director of Franklin Process Co., Trustee of National Petroleum Trust, and president of United Guaranty Co.
