JOEL ALLIS was born February 12, 1769, in Conway, Mass. His parents moved to Sullivan, Madison County, N.Y., when he was a boy, and on January 4, 1797, he married Sarah, daughter of Eber and Bethia (Jenkins) Lee of that town, who was born January 3, 1773, and died November 20, or 28, 1820. he is said to have married a second time a widow by the name of Lansing.
Joel Allis was a farmer in Sullivan, N.Y., for a number of years, but eventually settled in Orleans County, about 125 miles further west, and died September 17, 1851, age 82 years.
